When my mother passed away, we went to a wholesale gravestone yard on a Sunday morning at 08:30 to find a stone suitable for her grave. There was a place in the forrest where the stones were exhibited. In the front there were the ones neatly presented with little paths in between, close to each other. In the back there were raw piles of stones with variable beauty of colour, not smoothed to benefit the eyes of the purchasers. Stone Stock. That clearly visible front stage, back stage element made me smile and I enjoy them both..usually the back stage more.

Throughout the large outdoor space – between the trees, Couples were standing scattered among the variety of stones. Looking down at them, speaking softly to one another, concentrated and full of feeling. It moved me deeply, softened my heart, seeing how these people were connecting to their loved ones who had passed, through the stones. The stones became a mirror, or some kind of portal.

Since then, I have been learning more about stones, their frequencies and qualities. But that moment is still very profound to me. And I remember that I did not feel sad, I was thrilled and full of love and joy to feel this connectedness through the stones. Magic. A beautiful way to honor the passing, with stones.
